Puerto Galera is well known for its numerous scuba diving spots; the area was designated a Man and Biosphere Reserve of UNESCO in 1973 and has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia located at the very heart of the ‘Coral Triangle’. The area also features numerous pocket beaches and stunning tropical scenery. Atlantis Puerto Galera is beautifully built into the hills of Sabang Beach of Puerto Galera and has a great beachfront location; in many travel guidebooks and magazines Atlantis is quoted as one of the most outstanding resorts of the Philippines with its award winning.

Puerto Galera, one of the oldest Spanish settlements in the Philippines, was founded in 1574, becoming the first provincial capital in Mindoro Island. As early as the 10th century, Chinese, Malay and Indonesian merchants were already doing business with local traders, and Puerto Galera is where they replenished their provisions.

Puerto Galera lies on the northern tip of the island of Oriental Mindoro, approximately 110km south of Manila. Once we land in Manila, we transfer by bus - approximately two hours from Manila and then by boat to Puerto Galera, approximately one hour.
Atlantis’ forty guest rooms and suites are elegantly designed to give you maximum comfort, privacy and relaxation throughout your stay (all bedrooms have one room).

You can dive year-round in the Philippines, but there are three distinct seasons that affect dive conditions. December through March is the northeast monsoon that can bring strong winds. April through June is usually dry with warm days and little wind. July through November is the southwest monsoon, which is wet but the water is warm. Air temperatures average 25-32°C/78-90°F with high relative humidity.

The Philippines has a hot and humid tropical climate with a wet season (southwest monsoon, or habagat) from June to October and a dry season (northeast monsoon, or amihan) from November to May.

The best time to visit the Philippines is during the dry season - April & May

January and February are the coolest months and good for travelling, while March, April and May are very hot: expect sunshine all day and temperatures to peak at a broiling 36°C, As well as higher humidity.
The wet season brings typhoons, with flights sometimes cancelled and roads impassable. The first typhoon can hit as early as June and last as late as October.
